Tesla’s First Showroom in Mumbai: Plans for 0% Import Tax in India

Tesla has leased a 4,003 sq ft showroom in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) for its first showroom. This showroom will be set up for 5 years at USD 2.5 million (approximately Rs 21.77 crore).

Tesla's first showroom will be in the Maker Maxity building in BKC, Mumbai, which is located near the Chattrapati Shivaji International Airport.

Tesla may launch Model 3 first in India, as it is their cheapest model. Tesla will launch its cheapest model in India.

Talking about imports, Tesla will import CBU (Completely Built Unit) vehicles to India. There is an import tax of up to 110% on this, which is being tried to be reduced.

Tesla and the US government are demanding 0% import tax from India. This can be a part of the India-US trade agreement. Which will also promote India-US friendship.

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US, India and the US have set a target of USD 500 billion trade by 2030. Which can make India even stronger in trade.
