
The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class EV is an electric SUV that looks like the traditional GLC-Class but hides a powerful electric powertrain inside. The vehicle offers a perfect combination of great performance and luxury. We tested the SUV on snowy roads in Sweden, where the ride quality felt extremely smooth and powerful. Mercedes-Benz will introduce the new electric SUV at the Munich IAA Auto Show in September 2024 and it will compete with strong rivals like the BMW iX3, Porsche Macan EV and Polestar 3.
Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class EV powertrain and performance
The GLC-Class EV will get a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration, which will give it great speed and performance. This SUV can generate 483 horsepower, which gives it a great driving experience even in winter. It has a two-speed automatic transmission, which is so smooth that you will not even feel the gear shifting. At the same time, its air-suspension system makes the journey even more comfortable and can also increase the ground clearance when needed.
Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class EV Battery, Range and Charging
The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class EV features a 94.5-kWh battery pack that is said to offer an EPA-rated range of up to 300 miles (about 482 km).
- It supports fast charging up to 320 kW, allowing it to charge in just a few minutes.
- The battery pack is fitted in the floor of the vehicle, keeping the center of gravity low and improving handling.
Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class EV price and variants
The electric SUV will start at around $65,000 (roughly Rs. 54 lakhs), which could go up to $70,000 (roughly Rs. 58 lakhs) depending on variants and features.

Mercedes-Benz hasn’t shared the official pricing and features details yet, but it will replace the GLC 350e Hybrid.
What’s new in the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class EV
The GLC-Class EV is a new model in Mercedes-Benz’s electric portfolio that will be launched in 2025. It will slot below the mid-size EQE SUV and will adopt the company’s new naming system, no longer using the “EQ” prefix.
