India’s New Traffic Law: ₹25,000 Fine for Parents of Minor Drivers

India’s New Traffic Law : India’s New Traffic Law : Driving on the road in India is no child’s play. There are different rules for every type of vehicle here, and it is everyone’s responsibility to follow them. If someone breaks the rules, then they have to pay a fine, everyone knows this. But even today there are many people who are not aware of some important traffic rules, and they break the rules unknowingly. Then when the challan is issued, then they come to know that they have made a mistake.

And now, a new rule has come for bike and scooter drivers, hearing which you will be shocked. If you are caught breaking this rule, then you will have to pay a hefty fine of not 1000-2000, but ₹ 25,000 directly! Yes, you heard it right, a full ₹ 25,000! So if you also go out on the road with a bike or scooter, then definitely know about this new rule, otherwise it will not take long for your pocket to be empty.

Why is a challan of ₹25,000 being issued?

As you know, in India it is necessary to have a driving license to drive a bike, car or any big vehicle. If you do not have a license, then a challan will be issued. And to get a license, you should be above 18 years of age. But today’s children do not listen, they start driving bikes even before 18 years of age in order to become a hero. If your child or any minor member of the house is caught driving a bike or scooter without a license, then understand that a challan of ₹25,000 is certain.

What is this new rule?

According to the new rules of the Motor Vehicles Act, if a minor is caught driving, then a challan of ₹25,000 will be issued against his guardian (parent or legal guardian) under Section 199A of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988. Not only this, the traffic police also has the right to seize that vehicle, which means the vehicle is gone and the money is gone too!

Why was the rule changed?

Actually, in the last few years, the number of accidents caused by minors driving was increasing continuously. And many people lost their lives in these accidents. That is why the traffic police has decided to make the rules stricter. Now if a minor is caught driving, then first his family members will be called and they will be fined. And if an accident happens because of the minor, then the guardian may also have to go to jail.
